DataDock II Quad Interface Aluminum 2 Bay RAID

DataDock II Quad Interface 2 Bay RAID

Fantom Drives DataDock II quad interface dual drive RAID is a high-speed, low-cost portable RAID storage solution. It is compact and easy to use with no software needed. DataDock II is perfect for audio/video editing, photo archiving or just storing office data. With two hot-swappable 3.5 SATA II removable hard drives available in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and 6TB* configurations, you'll have plenty of storage capacity.

Whether you're a digital photographer, audio/video editor or creative professional the DataDock II is the ideal storage solution to protect your valuable files. Unlike single drive backup, DataDock II employing RAID 1 simultaneously writes your valuable data to two independent hard drives so you have immediate backup as you save. In the event of a drive failure, you still have your data available while you send in the removable failed drive for repair.

The Fantom Drive DataDock II provides four interfaces including eSATA, FireWire 400, 800 and USB 2.0 with data transfer rates up to 300MB/s using eSATA. It also features Oxford Semiconductors OXUF960DSB chip to deliver best-in-class performance across all interfaces. A durable aluminum enclosure with a low noise DC fan makes this little unit quiet and cool. DataDock II is compatible with Time Machine and comes with NTI Shadow 4 with Ninja for PC and Mac.

DataDock II Quad Interface 2 Bay RAIDRaid levels 0, 1, and Spanning offer the flexibility to choose redundancy or performance depending on your particular need. RAID 1 offers 100% data redundancy and automatic data rebuilding in case of drive failure. RAID 0 provides maximum performance for tasks such as editing multiple streams of video with optimum playback.

For added security, Fantom Drives offers a DataDock II hot-swappable spare drive module that comes with a protective carrying case to keep your drive free of dust and moisture wherever you take it.

* Windows XP and earlier cannot access volumes greater than 2TB.

Perfect for Growing Media LIbraries, By Patrick S Murphy (Washington, DC)

Fantom, in my opinion, is an overlooked gem in the world of desktop storage. I've burned through countless Western Digital, Iomega, and Maxtor (pre- and post-Seagate) drives before finally learning my lesson: none of them are any better than any of the others, and they are all just this side of shoddy. Granted, I've only been using the Fantom Data Dock II for 3 months, but in that time, it's sat silently on my desk, holding nearly a TB of movies, music, and pictures (I'm using the RAID 1 configuration), returning what I want quickly and without any disturbing grinding or clicking sounds. I've learned Fantom is a favorite among Mac content creators, and I'm starting to realize why. Buy their drives. You will not be disappointed.

Great Drive - Fast, Quiet, Easy

I went through 3 Lacie 2Big Quadra's that were all DOA. This fantom RAID drive was easy to setup, plug in and it just worked! Its been fast and with the hot swap drives and RAID 1 will allow for a new level of protection for our family's 735GB photo/video library.

Its feels solidly built, and runs cool, which means I don't have to worry about it dying from heat exposure as many drives do.
